I had an important appointment today, but ended up not going out. It's been postponed to next week, so I'm a little worried, but secretly I'm relieved. I can finally get around to those YouTube video edits and other tasks I've been putting off for days. So, I'm tackling the urgent ones first, and now I'm typing away before lunch. It's not a particularly important topic, but I'm jotting this down to clear my head.
Almost everyone living in the US agrees that the biggest inconvenience is being immobile. As someone with visual and physical impairments, I can't drive at all, so I always rely on others for rides. And public transportation isn't very well-developed in my area, which limits where I can go.
People who know my situation are surprised. They ask what I do all day at home and if I'm not bored. But I just smile and say, "I'm fine." Sure, there are times when it's frustrating, but luckily I'm an introvert and a homebody, so spending time at home doesn't feel that tedious. In fact, pottering around and doing my own thing at home is less stressful.
Plus, due to my illness, interacting with others can actually be detrimental. I worry about making a small slip of the tongue and hurting someone's feelings, or them thinking I'm strange. These negative thoughts and paranoia are the biggest reason why I can't work a regular job. So, if I have to work, I'll plan to work from home.
That's why this time, sitting at my desk, organizing my thoughts and writing, feels so precious and valuable. This afternoon, I plan to go for a walk in the mountains to get some fresh air. The weather has been unusually erratic, swinging between hot and cold, and I'm worried that spring will be over before I know it and summer will be here. I enjoy taking flower pictures in spring... I wonder what kind of photos I'll capture this year. But, I'm saying no to the pollen (thankfully, I don't have allergies!), and I really want to enjoy spring this year.
