It was last Friday. As usual, after the postman came, I opened the mailbox and checked the mail. But the address was clearly our house address, yet the recipient's name was completely wrong. So I visited all the neighboring houses on the same street, but I couldn't find that person in the end.

When I got home, I saw two comments on a post I'd already made on the subdivision community. They both said that since humans make mistakes, I should contact the county election office that sent the mail directly. So I thanked them and said I would contact them the next day, but I forgot that the next day was Saturday...

So that day, I wrote the email, saved it to the draft folder, and hit the send button as soon as 9:00 AM on Monday. An hour or so later, I got a reply.

In the email, I had sent a close-up picture of the problematic name and address, and the office, after checking, concluded that the person had likely written the address incorrectly, no longer had the right to vote, had no voting record, and probably moved to another county or state. They gave a detailed and kind reply.

They said the solution was to write "Return to Sender" on the envelope and return it, and they would handle it. So I wrote that phrase in large letters on the front of the envelope with a pen of a color other than black, and put it in the mailbox and raised the red flag on the side. This is a sign to let the postman know there's mail to be sent.

So I'm glad I was able to smoothly(?) resolve this minor incident that had been bothering me for days. But when I talked to my neighbors, I said I've lived here for 17 years since this subdivision was created, and everyone was surprised. Since I'm at it, should I stick it out for two more years, make it 20 years, and then move somewhere else?
